The MICAM shoEvent shows further growth for this prestigious international footwear exhibition held at the Milan trade fair from 21 to 24 September. This year it totalled 44,192 visitors, 5.7% more than the September 2005 edition. Satisfaction for event organisers, ANCI (the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association), was further added to by excellent figures for foreign operators...
...with an increase of 11% and 21,535 accredited buyers. Germany, Japan, Spain, France, Great Britain and Russia were the main countries of origin for the international visitors who flocked to MICAM. Good attendance also by Italians, with participation figures the same as for last time. “Yet again”, commented the ANCI president, Rossano Soldini, “MICAM has not let us down, with this edition once more showing continued growth, just like previous years. We are particularly proud of this result that rewards our strategic choices and our organisational efforts. Above all, we believe this is an important success during this critical moment for our sector. Let’s hope it also serves to attract the attention of the organisations battling with us for protection of made-in-Italy”. With 1651 companies, including 519 from abroad, and the presence of prestigious international stylists and designers, guests of the VISITORS area, MICAM has re-affirmed its role as the principal benchmark appointment for Italian and international operators, who come to this event with the precise aim of choosing collections that will feature in shop windows throughout the world. MICAM is above all a unique chance for those wanting updates on trends for future seasons and the guarantee of a quality choice. A meeting point for the most qualified operators, the event hosted the twenty-first edition of the MICAM Award, with prizes going to the Italian Sante Falcomer, owner of 17 shops that offer a choice of the most prestigious brands in the footwear sector, and the international stylists Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison, well-known for their brand, Sigerson Morrison. The next MICAM appointment is scheduled for 15 to 18 March 2007, with presentation of collections for the autumn/winter 2007/2008 season. (30/10/2006) |
