38,773 professionals in the footwear sector visited MICAM ShoEvent, the international trade fair dedicated to top- and middle/top-of-the-range footwear organised by ANCI, the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers, which opened its doors from 26th to 29th February at the Milanese trade fair centre in Rho. "This edition” comments the chairman of ANCI, Vito Artioli, in conclusion, “registered a drop in attendance figures, and especially those from Italy.
But the most significant data regard the fact that the event days were distinguished by a large number of buyers of a superior quality with respect to the corresponding edition in 2007, a feature which was welcomed with a great deal of satisfaction by us organisers and, not surprisingly, by the exhibiting companies, who registered a good business turnover”.

The satisfaction was mostly expressed for the presence of buyers from Russia, from the states of the former Soviet Republic, from Japan and from Northern Europe. The Italians, with 17,870 visitors, nonetheless confirm their interest in the event.
“The drop in attendance to the trade fair" continues the chairman of ANCI “is mostly attributable to a non traditional positioning during the international trade fair calendar, with dates brought forward compared to usual. The event however confirmed its role as a global point of reference for the sector, especially in the light of the good deals and qualified contacts which characterised the days of the footwear business.”
Jeannot During the four business days of the event, there were 1,665 exhibitors, 1,139 of which Italian, which spread over a surface area of 74,301 m2 (+1.5%) alongside 526 foreign businesses, to present buyers from every continent their collections for autumn/winter 2008/2009.
“MICAM ShoEvent has again met our expectations and those of our interlocutors” continues the chairman, Vito Artioli “with an offer characterised by a further increase in the level of quality and in creativity. This feature, which distinguished the entire sector, is the real strength of Italian companies and the factor that ensures we continue to be the leader of the highest market brackets”.
