Le Cuir a Paris (Paris fair of leather and fur) introduces the leather trends for summer 2010. For the first summer of the new decade, new rhythms appear and guide our desires for colours and textures. After a long period punctuated by narration, we are craving more abstraction. To express our desires for summer, nouns pair up with adjectives which strengthen meaning and accentuate the tension. This tension makes positive waves vibrate and reminds us of effects of light and shadow.
Thus, precipitation is not only a synonym of speed, it is slow, accompanied, or the precursor of concentration.
Opulence is thought over; the luxury and beauty of textures, the richness of sensual and deep colours, is here to stay.
Tenderness is not just naive and confident; it can also be acid-sharp, chemical, grating.
Energy is interiorised; it sends strong signals and messages for the future.
Slow Precipitation
A rapid and slow rhythm takes hold. An organised and rhythmic softness, where the lens remains set on “freeze frame”. A women at her dressing table, a burgeoning city, are expectant at the dawn of a new decade.
Zen Opulence
A vegetal world, often opaque and worrying, where leaves forget their place and invade the landscape. Nature in a jar, to keep it close by, or better contain it, for fear of it taking over.
Bitter Tenderness
Trying to capture the ephemeral. A simple tale where colours and textures blend and show their complicity in duets or trios. A complementary opposition between graphic lightness and streamlined artificiality.
Sober Energy
Fashion and design are channels of controlled energy Spontaneous scribblings rubshoulders with pure mathematical lines. Cajole technique, domesticate calculations.Equations and grammatical research write new poems.
Next Le Cuir a Paris takes place 10th - 13th February 2009, hall 4, Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Park.
