Another strong year for China’s outdoor business |
(ispo) - COCA, the Chinese Outdoor Commerce Alliance, has just put out its own figures on the evolution of the outdoor market in China. The numbers indicate that the business grew from 7,130 million yuan renminbi in 2010 to RMB 10.76 billion (€1,287m-$1,708m) last year at the retail level.
This increase of nearly 51 percent corresponds to an evolution at the wholesale level of nearly 70 percent to RMB 54.3 billion (€6.49-$8.62bn). The number of brands that are active on the Chinese market has again increased between 2010 and 2012 by a hefty 29 percent to a total number of 717. It should be pointed out, however, that the number of domestic brands has risen significantly and at a higher rate of almost 46 percent to 334, whereas the number foreign brands at a slower rate of 13 percent to 367 brands.
