Hervis is for sale, newspapers say |
(ispo) - The Austrian press is wildly speculating about a possible sale of Hervis, the country’s big sporting goods chain, which is a subsidiary of Spar, the big Austrian food retailer. ...
... Reportedly, Deichmann, the huge German shoe retail group, might have some appetite to take over; it has already a substantial market share in neighboring Switzerland’s sports market through its Dosenbach-Ochsner operations. Another reported bidder for Hervis comes from the Italian retail theater. In the last financial year (ended Dec. 31), Hervis ran 170 stores in Austria and five Eastern European countries. Total sales declined by 3 percent to €450 million. The total selling surface increased by 6.1 percent in the same period. However, we hear that Spar’s management has denied any plans to sell Hervis.
