Presentation of HDS Awards 2013 on 13 March at GDS |
At GDS in Düsseldorf the HDS Awards in the categories “German Shoe Award 2013” and “HDS Junior Award 2013” are to be presented on 13 March this year. Anchor woman and musician Fernanda Brandao was also honoured with the award “Shoe Woman of the Year 2013” at a glamorous event. By her own accounts this the “world’s biggest shoe lover” owns over 300 pairs of shoes.
Next to sporty sneakers high heels are among the favourite styles of this empathetic Berliner by choice – who recently became the face of Puma in its “Schön trainieren” campaign. The German shoe award this year went to children’s shoe manufacturer RICOSTA from Donaueschingen. With its “Rallye” style designed by Gerhard Gaiß Jr. RICOSTA has come up with a shoe that millions of parents will be anxious to buy. Thanks to a novel sole solution the style for small children provides perfect protection against abrasion for instance when riding scooters and other “vehicles”. “Go for glamour! Shiny and shimmering shoes!” is the motto of this year’s Junior Award. Under the scrutinising eyes of the high-calibre expert jury the design by designer Isabel van de Sand from shoe city Pirmasens was chosen as the winning style. Her murderously high heels convinced the jury with their accomplished mix of luxury, high-tech and glamour. The “German Shoe Award” and the “HDS Junior Award” are sponsored by the Ministry for Economy, Climate Protection, Energy and State Planning of the German state Rhineland Palatinate. German manufacturers from industry and skilled crafts are eligible for participation in the “German Shoe Award” contest. The “HDS Junior Award” contest is open to both national and international young designers. Both awards come with prize money of EUR 2,500. (14/03/2013) |
