 Italian footwear is back at fn platform august 19 through 21
In the wake of the success of the first appearance of Italian footwear at FN PLATFORM in February, Assocalzaturifici is back at the Las Vegas Convention Center August 19 through 21 with 23 men’s, women’s and children’s footwear makers exhibiting their Spring/Summer 2014 collections in the Italian Pavilion.
It’s very important for footwear companies to present their collections in the United States, as the country represents Italy’s third biggest export market in terms of value, fourth in terms of volume, accounting for 9.7% of all exports by value, 6% by quantity. In 2012, Italian footwear exports to the United States totaled approximately 12.9 million pairs, up 2.5% over 2011, worth a total of about 743 million euro, 5.2% more than the 2011 figure and fully 11% more than the pre-recession 2008 figure. The figures dropped only slightly in the first three months of 2013, with the value of exports down 1%, primarily as a result of changing interest rates rather than decreased competitiveness, as demonstrated by the growth trend in volumes, which reached the threshold of 3.8 million pairs, 5.3% more than the same period in 2012. To support and boost the presence of Italian footwear makers in Las Vegas, Assocalzaturifici conducted promotional initiatives primarily targeting the press in the United States before, during and after the fair dates, as well as setting up a special lounge at the event. 
FN PLATFORM, held in partnership with Footwear News, is a very important event featuring more than 600 exhibitors representing over 1600 brands and attracting visitors from all over North America.
