Moda MADE IN ITALY:
ImageTHE COLLECTIONS OF 138 COMPANIES IN MUNICH "We are pleased with the results achieved during the latest edition of Moda Made in Italy, especially considering the ongoing difficulties experienced by the German and European market in general," commented Cleto Sagripanti, President of Assocalzaturifici. “The number of exhibitors and visitors has remained stable compared to previous years,...

...confirming the role of the event as an opportunity to place orders even at the end of the sale season".

MOC, Moda Made in Italy is a twice-yearly international trade fair organised by Assocalzaturifici dedicated to high and medium-high end Italian footwear. The show held from 11 to 13 October revealed the Spring/Summer 2014 collections of 138 companies. MOC ended to the satisfaction of the exhibitors, despite the difficulties experienced by the German market.

Exhibitors enjoyed a consistent flow of visitors during the three days of the fair, during which they were able to place orders with operators from the entire Central European area. The Munich MOC represents a strategic opportunity not only for Germany, but also for neighbouring markets such as Switzerland, Austria and northern Europe, offering more and more services aimed at the operators visiting the event.

After the recovery registered in the 2010-2011 period, exports of Italian footwear to Germany experienced a setback, which in 2012 led to a decline in sales both in terms of volume and value. This trend continued throughout the first six months of 2013: 16.3 million pairs were exported to Germany from January to June 2013, down 3.8% compared to the same period in 2012. The data relating to the value of exports also experienced a slight decline of 0.7%, for a total of €427m.

The aggregate of Italian footwear exported yields a positive figure: footwear with leather uppers, typical of Italian production, decreased less significantly in volume (down 1.3%) and experienced an albeit slight increase in value (up 0.6% increase compared to the first three months of 2012), for a total of €356m, representing 83% of total exports.
Germany remains an important catchment area for the Italian footwear, constituting the second largest market both in value and volume terms in the list of countries of destination for Italian exports.

The next edition of Moda Made in Italy will be held from 23 to 25 March 2014.
