ImageThe industry looks toward the upcoming summer with excitement - from 30 July to 1 August 2014, GDS starts for the first time with its new concept as the “global destination for shoes & accessories”.  Similarly promising is the registration status for “tag it! by gds – the show for private labels in shoes and accessories”. The trade fair takes place from 29 July to 1 August 2014 and is the logical metamorphosis of the fair previously known as GLOBAL SHOES.

Positive Response on All Three Worlds

Going forward, GDS will be organized into the three worlds STUDIO, HIGHSTREET and POP-UP. Each world is unique – with its own appropriate design and atmosphere. The collections featured in the “HIGHSTREET – The Modern Pulse” world cover a spectrum that ranges from modern to sporty and all the way to classic. Companies such as Ara, Buffalo, Camel, Clarks, Donna Carolina, Gabor, Kangaroos, Manas, Mephisto, Lloyd, Skechers, s.Oliver, Unisa, Vagabond and Wortmann have already announced their participation here. Birkenstock, Finn Comfort, Ganter, and Sioux, for example, will be among the labels in the comfort sector. New exhibitors in HIGHSTREET include labels such as Gant, Lacoste, Marc O’Polo, Napapijri, Giesswein, and Viking. It is also encouraging that Brown Shoe Company will premier at GDS with their Naturalizer brand.

Children’s labels will include Bisgaard, Däumling, Clic!, Falc, Richter, and Primigi, among others, as well as Ricosta again newly. In the Performance area within the HIGHSTREET world, it’s all about sportiness, closeness to nature and active lifestyles. Gore, Kamik, Lowa, Salomon and Teva will be among the companies present here.

timers include Bull + Hunt, George Gina & Lucy, Hüftgold/Mischmasch, Tom Tailor Bags, Tyoulip Sisters, Vento/Vespa, and Voi Leather Design.

“POP-UP – The Urban Groove” is a lively marketplace for trendy streetwear. This July, manufacturers such as AS98, Dr. Martens, G-Star, El Naturalista, Fly London Maruti, Panama Jack, Pepe Jeans Footwear, and Replay will present their new collections here.

is the platform for premium labels such as Ash, United Nude, Attilio Giusti, Chie Mihara, Dinkelacker, Franceschetti, Jaime Mascaro, and La Martina. Newcomers will include Kennel & Schmenger, Barbour Footwear, and Patricia Pepe among others.

Each of the three worlds offers visitors additional orientation by means of the “Highlight Route” – a pre-defined path that leads visitors past selected exhibitors’ stands, special product presentations, trend information, fashion shows and events. Moreover, GDS interlinks its fashion focus on shoes and accessories with socially relevant topics and long-term trends. In summer 2014, urban cycling is in the spotlight at GDS – as a culture of modern, environmentally conscious mobility and as an urban lifestyle. GDS intends to present urban cycling in a trendy environment. Urban cycling influences the clothing styles and sets standards for sportiness.

Simultaneously with GDS’s new appearance in July 2014, a new, re-worked trade fair concept will be launched: tag it! by GDS. This new concept targets international manufacturers and resellers of shoes and accessories with a focus on private label production. Here as well, the feedback from exhibitors has been extremely gratifying – numerous exhibitors, such as Achten Fashion, Edelfashion, Intermedium, Idana, Kidderminster, Lenci Calzature, Poelman, Theo Henkelmann and Trend Design have already registered. Next to these renowned market players, the offerings are augmented by various individual and group stands from Southern Europe and Southeast Europe.

The international halls and the Sourcing Hall are also already well booked. All large international companies in the worldwide private label business will be represented, including Cortina, Y.Jessi, Studio 56, New York Group, Mad Mad M; Different Shoes, Jiesi, Bonita, Amydell, Guangzhou Ekai, Gaflana, Carson, Raj Shoes India, and Trading Places. The Trend Lounge will be the central meeting point in hall 16, as it provides market players with the necessary certainty regarding their choice of collections at the beginning of the ordering phase. Group stands from Malaysia, Singapore, India and Taiwan round off the offerings in the international segment.

A clear segmentation according to product areas in the Sourcing Hall gives visitors an opportunity to search for production capacities in all Chinese regions.

OUT OF THE BOX – Düsseldorf Celebrates the Festival of Shoes and Accessories

Created especially for all shoe-loving consumers, the Festival of Shoes and Accessories, entitled OUT OF THE BOX, begins on the third trade fair day. On 1 August 2014 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, fashionistas and shoe lovers can look forward to specials, events and entertainment in Düsseldorf stores and on the city streets. Students of the Fashion Design Institute show their student projects and sketches on the topic of shoes & accessories at the Schadow Arkaden, for example, and an OUT OF THE BOX signature cocktail will be served at four large bars. The Düsseldorf gallery, Nostheide-Eycke, transforms high heels into art objects and presents the works of German artist Svenja Ritter. GDS media partner styleranking.de invites national and international fashion bloggers to decorate shop windows at partner shops in downtown Düsseldorf. In addition, residents have the opportunity to donate shoes for a good cause using shoe containers positioned specifically for that purpose. The big After Shoe Party begins in the evening at the popular Dr. Thompson nightclub and continues on into the wee hours of the morning. All activities and programme items can be found shortly at www.outofthebox-duesseldorf.de.
