The industry looks toward the upcoming summer with excitement - from 30 July to 1 August 2014, GDS starts for the first time with its new concept as the “global destination for shoes & accessories”. So far the response from the exhibitor side is very promising. All three worlds within the new GDS boast a host of exciting shoe and accessories labels that have already registered, including several first-time exhibitors.

The trade fair takes place from 29 July to 1 August 2014 and is the logical metamorphosis of the fair previously known as GLOBAL SHOES. Positive Response on All Three Worlds Going forward, GDS will be organized into the three worlds STUDIO, HIGHSTREET and POP-UP. Each world is unique – with its own appropriate design and atmosphere. The collections featured in the “HIGHSTREET – The Modern Pulse” world cover a spectrum that ranges from modern to sporty and all the way to classic. Companies such as Ara, Buffalo, Camel, Clarks, Donna Carolina, Gabor, Kangaroos, Manas, Mephisto, Lloyd, Skechers, s.Oliver, Unisa, Vagabond and Wortmann have already announced their participation here. Birkenstock, Finn Comfort, Ganter, and Sioux, for example, will be among the labels in the comfort sector. New exhibitors in HIGHSTREET include labels such as Gant, Lacoste, Marc O’Polo, Napapijri, Giesswein, and Viking. It is also encouraging that Brown Shoe Company will premier at GDS with their Naturalizer brand. Children’s labels will include Bisgaard, Däumling, Clic!, Falc, Richter, and Primigi, among others, as well as Ricosta again newly. In the Performance area within the HIGHSTREET world, it’s all about sportiness, closeness to nature and active lifestyles. In summer 2014, urban cycling is in the spotlight at GDS – as a culture of modern, environmentally conscious mobility and as an urban lifestyle. Urban cycling influences the clothing styles and sets standards for sportiness. tag it! by gds Simultaneously with GDS’s new appearance in July 2014, a new, re-worked trade fair concept will be launched: tag it! by GDS. This new concept targets international manufacturers and resellers of shoes and accessories with a focus on private label production. Here as well, the feedback from exhibitors has been extremely gratifying – numerous exhibitors, such as Achten Fashion, Edelfashion, Intermedium, Idana, Kidderminster, Lenci Calzature, Poelman, Theo Henkelmann and Trend Design have already registered. Next to these renowned market players, the offerings are augmented by various individual and group stands from Southern Europe and Southeast Europe. The international halls and the Sourcing Hall are also already well booked. OUT OF THE BOX – Düsseldorf Celebrates the Festival of Shoes and Accessories Created especially for all shoe-loving consumers, the Festival of Shoes and Accessories, entitled OUT OF THE BOX, begins on the third trade fair day. On 1 August 2014 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm, fashionistas and shoe lovers can look forward to specials, events and entertainment in Düsseldorf stores and on the city streets. Students of the Fashion Design Institute show their student projects and sketches on the topic of shoes & accessories at the Schadow Arkaden, for example, and an OUT OF THE BOX signature cocktail will be served at four large bars. The Düsseldorf gallery, Nostheide-Eycke, transforms high heels into art objects and presents the works of German artist Svenja Ritter. GDS media partner styleranking.de invites national and international fashion bloggers to decorate shop windows at partner shops in downtown Düsseldorf.
